SCAA Junior Championship 2015

Congratulations!

Despite a cloudy day the club was proudly represented at the Somerset County Junior Championships on Sunday 14th June 2015 by Hannah Cole, Josh Smith and Marco Costanza.

The championship was held in the grounds of Dunster Castle as part of the 60th year of archery competition taking place at this most iconic of venues. And what a great start to a full week of archery competition!

Josh Smith, shooting in his first competitive Bristol 3 Recurve competition took first place with a score of 937 (143 hits, 41 golds). He also claimed a Black Junior Rose Award for scoring over 900 points. Josh was awarded the SCAA Wellington Cup.

Marco Costanza, also shooting in his first competitive Bristol 4 won the Under 12 Recurve with an impressive 1,102 (144 hits, 73 golds). Marco score earned him the Red Junior Rose Award and he also claimed a 6 Gold End Award. Marco’s score was also the highest overall boys recurve score. Marco was awarded the SCAA Target Cup.

Hannah Cole, finished second to Jade Pocock of Bath Archers in a very tight contest. despite having not been well for several weeks leading up to the competition Hannah scored 1,062 (144 hits, 55 golds) in the Bristol 3.

Our congratulations go to all three archers.

Important Note: Juniors wishing to improve their archery are welcome to join Josh, Hannah and Marco at the club’s junior development squad sessions held at St Bedes Catholic College, Long Cross, Lawrence Weston, Bristol BS11 0SU every Saturday morning starting at 10am
