New grounds at The Downs School, Wraxall, North Somerset.

Welcome to Gordano Valley Archers. We are a very open and friendly Archery Club based on the edge of Gordano Valley at The Downs School in Wraxall, North Somerset. We cater for people that would like to give archery a go right through to County Champions and hopefully one day  we shall have some National Champions.

Currently the club has just over 100 members of which about 50% are juniors. We also have a number of people on the beginners courses. Ages of our members range from 6 to 80 years. We have individuals and three generations of families coming along regularly.

Our grounds at The Downs School, Wraxall provide both outdoor and indoor facilities as well as toilet and changing facilities for male, female and disabled.

Mission Statement

Letter of appreciation

This evening my son and I attended a taster session with the Claverham Beavers and my son is still bubbling with excitement like Alka-Seltzer in a glass of water.

I have to say it was a pleasure to see children so young enjoying the sport with such an enthusiastic instructor and the coaches who were very attentive to the children and kept them out of harms way.

Keeping nearly 20 six year olds safe, under control and enjoying themselves is a credit to your coaches and the club.

I started archery at the age of nine where I spent a couple of years shooting a recurve bow on private land as no club would accept a younger member. Thankfully at the age of 11 the BT Bowmen in Bristol allowed me to join and I continued to shoot until I reached 19.

I always intended to go back to the sport and before I know it 15 years have passed.

I have always enjoyed the sport and am really impressed with the club welcoming people as young as five.

My son (age 6) and I would love to join one of your beginner’s courses as soon as you have a space available.

I have a recurve bow and two compound bows (I converted to the Dark side)

Tonight was just the kick up the backside I needed to try and get back into the sport!

Please could you let me know when you have a beginner’s course starting? I would also like to join the club.

Best Wishes

Adam
