GVA success at Inter Club

On September 2nd Gordano Valley Archers again played host to the Somerset County Inter Club Championships. This was a handicap event shooting the ‘Western’ rounds.

After last years’ horrible weather conditions it was a great relief to all that we had such a pleasant day.

Archers of all ages from 8 to over 80 took part and there were representatives from across the county. The rounds were shot in the usual mixture of fun and friendly competition that this event always seems to create.

Gordano Valley Archers were represented in most categories and came away with some notable successes…

In the Senior Gents Compound, the club took a clean sweep of the medals:

1st Adam Wood, 2nd Paul Stronach, 3rd Ashley Flay

Pieter De Ronde won the Senior Gents Barebow

Luke Davey won the Under 16 Junior Recurve with a new county record.

Michael Wood won the Under 16 Junior Compound also with a new county record

Daniel Mills had the result of the day however, in the Under 10 Junior Barebow.  He took
1st place and shot a new regional record.

Many congratulations to all our winners. A special mention must also go to Denise Burgess. A longstanding member of the club, she is now in training to become an archery judge and ran the line with calm efficiency.

After the competition there was a raffle which raised over £100 for Muscular Dystrophy.

All in all it was an excellent day and one we look forward to hosting again next year.
