Beginners Courses

Text Box: Beginner’s Courses are run throughout the year on Sunday mornings. As with all archery it is weather dependent. The courses are run by GNAS qualified coaches. The courses are structured to introduce anyone capable of holding a bow and arrow safely to shoot properly and safely. There is no minimum or maximum age limit however we do stress that a person must be able to hold and control a bow and arrow. The youngest people we have on our courses are about 7 or 8 years old and the oldest is about 80 years old. We supply all the equipment necessary to shoot as a beginner.

Courses are run over 6 sessions. You do not need to block book the 6 sessions. We will keep a record of the sessions that you have turned up for and tailor each session to your requirements. Sessions are run in groups of up to 10 beginners at a time all of which will probably be at differing parts of the course. If you cannot make a session just let us know when you will next be available so that we can make sure that we have enough coaches available to run the lines.

Once you have completed the coaching course you will be invited to join the club which will allow you to shoot at any of our club days.

The Beginners course costs £35.00 per archer for the 6 sessions. If 2 members of the same family register for the course at the same time the overall cost will be £60.00 and if 3 members register at the same time then the overall cost will be £80.00. Larger families and OAPs should contact the Lead Coach (TC) for information on further concessions.
TC can be contacted at:

We strongly recommend that you do not purchase any equipment until you have completed the beginners course. You will be able to borrow club equipment on a weekly basis for a fee after completing the course and having joined the club or you can take part in the Bow Scheme. The Bow Scheme allows you for a deposit to borrow a bow for up to a year. You are able to take the bow home and as such are able to shoot with the same bow every time that you shoot.

Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. You must have shoes that fully protect your feet i.e. no holes. Loose clothing such as ties or scarves should not be worn. Long hair needs to be tied back away from the face.

If you wish to take part in a beginners course please fill in the attached form and send it to the address on the form.
